Dawn Service - 5.45am at Balgal Beach
April 25, 2004. Weather threatening showers. A cool breeze blowing in from the Coral Sea. The flags of Australia and New Zealand fluttering high above the shoreline. A large contingent of ex. service men and women talking softly. Many active servicemen and women resplendent in uniform. Local residents, some with wreaths, chatting in the pre-dawn light. Young children, not quite comprehending the significance of the moment, respectful of the scene unfolding before them.
This is Anzac Day 2004 at Balgal Beach (click on the photos to enlarge).

The ceremony was held at our brand new memorial which overlooks the Coral Sea with the islands in the background. This has to be one of the most picturesque memorials on the planet! With the sun rising over the sea, we were all very moved by the ceremony which was organised by the Rollingstone Branch of the RSL.
LEST WE FORGET
